1975年と1980年の2回にわたって、日本公演が中止されました。Venus and Marsで頂点を極めたPaulはまだ33歳(1975年）。Beatlesを超えたんではないかと思われていた絶頂期のWingsを観たかったのは私だけでは無い筈です。悲しいけどしょうがない。この素晴らしいLPで我慢をしていました。また、2度目の中止に関しては訪日してからのポールの逮捕および公演中止という、日本洋楽史上最大の事件となりました。連日TV で報道され、日本全国のビートルズ及びロックファンが愕然とした出来事でした。もう一生ロックショウは観れないんだと完全にあきらめ気分になりました。結局ここからさらに10年待つことになりましたが、まだ当時は知る由もありませんでした。
『スピード・オブ・サウンド』を引っ提げ1976年5月から6月にかけて行われた全米ツアーでは31回の公演で60万人もの観客動員数を記録。ツアーのライブ盤『ウイングス・オーヴァー・アメリカ』は3枚組LPとして発表されました。

1981年に映画『ロックショウ』として日本公開され、私も観に行きました。
Wings 来日公演中止の経緯
- Wings Over the World Tour In Japan：1975年11月19 – 21日 日本武道館 大麻不法所持の前科があることから法務省がビザ発給をせず、公演中止に
- Wings Japan Tour 1980：1980年1月21 – 24日・31日 – 2月2日 日本武道館、1月25日・26日 愛知県体育館、1月28日 フェスティバルホール 29日大阪府立体育館 1980年1月16日に日本に到着したマッカートニーが税関の荷物検査で219グラムの大麻を所持していたため現行犯逮捕。9日間拘留され、国外退去されたことにより全公演中止に。
その後、1990年からPaulは何度も来日してくれました。もちろん感謝の一言ですが、ライブバンドとしても最高の評価を得ていたWingsを全盛期に生で観たかったなあ。

カンボジア難民救済コンサート 1979年12月26日から4日間Hamarsmith Odeon,Londonで開催されたチャリティコンサート。Wings最後のライブとなったことでも有名です。
Wingsとして『Revolver』に収録のGot To Get You Into My Life、『McCartney』に収録のEvery Night、『McCartney II』に収録のComing Upを演奏。
RpckestraとしてLucille、Let It Be、Rockestra Theme この日がWings最後の演奏となりました。
